LIU Peng
Research Assistant Professor

Dr. Liu obtained his PhD degree in University of Glasgow. Then he worked as a postdoc in Key Laboratory for Geo-Environmental Monitoring of Coastal Zone of NASMG. Dr. Liu is now with SUSTech as a Research Assistant professor in Earth and space sciences.

Dr. Liu is interested in InSAR and its applications on Earth surface processes like Earthquake deformation, subsidence, and landslides. He identified the seasonal displacements of Huangtupo landslide associated with water level changes of the Three Gorges reservoir. He has investigated shallow sediment properties in Yellow River delta and modeled subsidence due to oil extraction in Gudao oilfield. He modeled ground water volume change and discovered geological control of subsidence by major faults in Tianjin. He mapped subsidence due to land reclamation and subway tunneling and seasonal displacements in Shenzhen.
