Professor Zhang Wenyong is a molecular pathologist. He obtained a full scholarship to study at Bowdoin College in 1992 and graduated with the hightest distinction with a major in biochemistry. He was then admitted to the distinguished "Tri-institutional MD-PhD Program" at Cornell Medical School/Rockefeller University and Sloan Kettering Caner Institute. He graduated in 2004 with The Herman L. Jacobius Pathology Award.  During the PhD work, he studied in the lab of the world leading expert in HIV biology, Dr. David Ho, and pionnerred in developing a potent HIV DNA vaccine by targeting dendritic cells. He received Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation Student Award for his work. He obtained residency training in anatomic pathology from Cornell Medical School- New York Presbyterian Hospital, and continued with a fellowhip in molecular pathology at Baylor College of Medicine/MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He was then appointed Associated Director of molecular pathology laboratory at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in 2008 and Director of Molecular Pathology Laboratory at New York Medical Collage Hospital in 2010. He has developed a number of highly accurate and effient methods for detecting molecular changes associated with cancer.
