Dr. He Junlong was born in Malaysia and is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology. His research focuses on the use of synthetic biology and protein engineering to address a variety of health and environmental issues, including the creation of a platform that allows researchers to share and systematically collect genetic structures for protein engineering purposes. In 2013, he received a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He studied under Professor Liang Zhao-xun, and used multi-module polyketide synthase to produce secondary metabolites, and designed proteins as biosensors for tracking bacterial intracellular signaling molecules. Cyclic di-GMP internal level of scientific research. He then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Synthetic Biology Clinical and Technical Innovation Center (SynCTI) at the National University of Singapore, focusing on protein design that confers therapeutic functions on probiotics and symbiotic microbes. The research results have been published in the journals of Nature Biomedical Engineering, Journal of American Chemistry Society, and ACS Synthetic Biology, and have been cited for more than 150 times. Two patents have been applied.
