Bio:
Dr. Yuan Chen serves as an assistant professor at Southern University of Science and Technology. He obtained his PhD degree from the University of Sydney in 2019. From 2019 to 2022, he was an ARC postdoctoral research associate at the University of Sydney. With extensive expertise in composite mechanics on mechanical modelling and mechanism analysis, structural optimization adn multifunctional design, metamaterials and additive manufacturing, etc, he authored/corresponded 46 SCI-indexed papers (23 as first author, 23 as corresponding author), including 33 in JCR Q1 journals such as leading publications in composites and solid mechanics,(e.g., Comput Meth Appl Mech Eng, Compos Sci Technol), and his research outcomes have been well recognised and appraised by world-renowned experts, academic institutions, international organisations and so forth - He has been elected as Editor-in-Chief for Adv Manuf Polym Compos Sci (Taylor & Francis), Editorial board member of Compos Commun, Chin J Mech Eng, Acta Mech Sin,J Eng Math, etc., Guest Editor for several SCI journals, and Topical advisory panel member for other SCI journals. Currently, he has been supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Key Research & Development Program of China, Guangdong University Key-Area Special Program, Shenzhen Science and Technology Program, etc. and was the national and international project reviewer, World's Top 2% Scientists (2024), etc. He has won several international awards including CSTE Young Researcher Award, CSTAM Young Talent Reservoir Program (Overseas Talent),MSAM Best Oral Presentation, etc. and is also a professional member of several renowned academic societies and organisations, such as member of youth executive commission and additive manufacturing commission under Chinese Society for Composite Materials, senior member of Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), European Materials Research Society, etc.
