Deng Yonghong, Ph.D., is a tenured Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), Associate Dean of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Director of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Energy Materials for Electric Power, Leading Talent in Scientific and Technological Innovation of the Guangdong Special Support Program, and Category B Talent of the Shenzhen Peacock Program. After obtaining her Ph.D. from Tsinghua University, Dr. Deng conducted postdoctoral research at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in the United States. Prior to joining SUSTech, she served as a Professor at South China University of Technology (SCUT).
She holds concurrent positions as Council Member of the Solid State Ionics Branch, Chinese Ceramic Society, Editorial Board Member of Energy Storage Science and Technology, Editorial Board Member of Battery Industry, Member of the Energy Storage Engineering Professional Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society, and Supervisor of the Shenzhen Power Supply Technology Society.
Dr. Deng focuses on the development of high-energy-density batteries and their key materials. He has led projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the Major Project of “New Energy Vehicles” under the Guangdong Provincial Key R&D Program, and the Key Program of Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation. She has published over 300 papers in journals such as Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, and Energy & Environmental Science, and holds over 100 patents.
Dr. Deng obtained awards include the China Excellent Patent Award, the Second Prize of the Natural Science Award from the Ministry of Education, the Second Prize of the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, and the Second Prize of the Shenzhen Science and Technology Progress Award. She has been included in the list of World's Top 2% Scientists for the five consecutive years.
