ZHANG Xin

Xin ZHANG is currently an assistant professor, doctoral supervisor, and PI at Southern University of Science and Technology. He is the recipient of the National Youth Talent of China. He obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees from Honors College and School of Aeronautics at Northwestern Polytechnical University, respectively, and his doctoral degree from Interdisciplinary Graduate School at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore; Afterwards, he continued to conduct postdoctoral research at Nanyang Technological University. Mainly engaged in research fields such as solid mechanics, impact dynamics, mechanical properties of fiber-reinforced composite materials, multifunctional composite materials, and energy absorbing structures. 60 journal articles have been published, among which over 30 SCI journal papers were published as the first author or corresponding author in J Mech Phys Solids, Adv Funct Mater, Compos Sci Technol, Carbon, Compos Part A & Part B, Int J Mech Sci, Int J Impact Eng, etc. Awarded the titles of Fellow of the International Advanced Materials Association (Sweden), Top Young Talent in Guangdong Province, and Overseas High level Talent in Shenzhen. Hosted multiple vertical projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation Youth Project Class B, National Natural Science Foundation General Project, National Key Research and Development Sub Project, Guangdong Provincial Key Field Special Project, Shenzhen Municipal Fund General Project, and Shenzhen Municipal Stable Support General Project. He also hosted some projects from companies like Huawei etc. Serving as an editorial board member, thematic advisory committee member, youth editorial board member, and guest editor for multiple SCI journals, he is the Secretary General of the Special Committee on the History and Methodology of Mechanics of the Chinese Society of Mechanics, a member of multiple committees of the Chinese Society for Composite Materials, and a member of international academic organizations such as the Royal Aeronautical Society and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. The main courses taught include Materials Mechanics, Flight Dynamics, Introduction to Aerospace and Mechanics, and Introduction to Frontiers of Mechanics.
