Abstract:

In recent years, ultracold polar molecules have emerged as an important system for quantum science and technology. This great progress has been made possible by decades of efforts in realizing full quantum control of the internal and external states of molecules. In this talk, I will discuss some of our contributions to the creation and coherent manipulation of ground-state polar molecules, starting from the quantum gas mixture of ultracold atoms. Furthermore, I will present our findings on understanding and controlling interactions between molecules for suppressing inelastic collisions and enhancing the elastic ones. These advances have established a solid foundation for a wide range of scientific explorations with ultracold molecules, including ultracold chemistry, quantum simulation, and quantum computation.
