王鹏,南方科技大学医学院讲席教授,博士生导师,国家首批千人计划特聘专家,教育部长江学者特聘教授,深圳市国家级领军人才。中国生物物理学会糖生物学分会会长。1984年获南开大学化学理学学士学位,1985年考入国家CGP项目赴美留学,1990年获美国加州大学伯克利分校化学博士学位。获美国科学促进会(AAAS)会士,俄亥俄州杰出学者,佐治亚州研究联盟杰出学者荣誉称号。2023年,入选“2023全球前2%顶尖科学家(终身)榜单”,年度领域排名1691/161671,学术生涯排名1300/161671。2022年,天津市技术发明奖一等奖获得者。2021年,美国糖化学界最高奖Claude S. Hudson奖获得者,是首位获此奖的中国大陆出生学者;中国生物工程学会第四届张树政糖科学奖杰出成就奖获得者。2002年,美国化学会糖化学部Horace S. Isbell奖获得者。2000年,与C.-H. Wong 教授共同获得美国总统绿色化学奖。历任美国迈阿密大学化学系助理教授,美国韦恩州立大学化学系正教授、终生教授,美国俄亥俄州立大学生物化学与化学系讲席教授,美国佐治亚州立大学化学系讲席教授、系主任。王鹏很早就关心并参与中国的科研建设,是首届国家自然科学基金委海外杰青,在南开大学从事科研工作。2007-2011年,在南开大学创办药学院并兼任院长(半职);2006-2019年,在山东大学申请并建立了中国国家糖工程技术研究中心并担任中心主任。王鹏教授的研究领域涉及核酸科学,糖科学,药物化学,药物递送系统。他在各种国际学术刊物上发表学术论著484篇(H-index 57 (Google Scholar) and 47 (Web of Science),参与7部学术专著的编写,拥有美国和中国专利19项。
