Prof. BI Baoyi is the center director of the Art Center of Southern University of Science and Technology, the Distinguished Professor of the Opera Center of Central Conservatory of Music, the Chair Professor of Northeast Normal University Scholars, the member of the 16th Special Committee, the signed opera singer of Wodunike Ci company, the President of Sino German Association of Thuringia in Germany, the member of the Standing Committee of the Voice Major of Chinese Arts-Medicine Association, the Resident Opera Director of Shenzhen Grand Theatre, the overseas high-level talent on Peacock Plan and the Art Consultant of BTV Global Spring Festival Gala. She is also the judge of National Vocal Competition of the Cultural Department, Teresa Berlloc, Taibei World Chinese Vocal Competition, Korea Asia Music Competition, Romania Harry Correa International Vocal Competition and other music competitions at home and abroad.

Prof. BI is assigned as the center director of the Art Center of Southern University of Science and Technology. Although the center has only been established for less than two years, it has made great achievements. In 2017, the center has organized three the Belt and Road international music workshops, including topics of vocal music, chamber music and piano improvisation. The collection of vocal music workshop and chamber music workshop is under the general editorship of Prof. BI and will be published by the People’s Music Publishing House: Having Southern University of Science and Technology as the application main part and the center director Prof. BI as the project leader, the National Art Fund Opera Director Talents Training Project is the first opera director talents training project in China and has received widespread concern at home and abroad. Since 2008, the Art Center will be promoted to the Center of Excellence in Art and Science and establish General Art Education Course and frontier research on art and science with a complete system, a reasonable structure and a good combination of art and science to support the Southern University of Science and Technology to develop first-class art education for first-class universities of science and engineering and train top-notch innovative talents with science and humanity.

Born in a family of musicians, Prof. BI has lived in Germany for more than 20 years. She is taught by two famous opera singers, Prof. GUO Shuzhen and Prof. LI Xinchang at home. Graduating with honor credit, the highest music degree in Germany and qualification certificate, she used to study in the Center Music School of Moscow Russia Conservatory, the University of Moscow Russia Conservatory, Liszt School of Music Weimar and Musikhochschule Lübeck and has got her doctor degree. She has won the first prize in the 2nd Anna Maria Annali International Vocal Competition, the third prize and best audience award in the 21st Robert Stolz International Vocal Competition Judge Committee in Hamburg Germany. In the recent years, she has signed with many opera house in Europe and played many famous and classic female mezzo-soprano characters successfully. In the Mozart’s opera, La Clemenza di Tito, she plays Sextus. In Lubeck Brahms Music Festival, she performs the new made Wagener’s opera Parsifal with Czech Puppet Troupe and played the female protagonist Kunduri. In Chi Mar Roza’s Különös házasság, she plays Faye Dharma. In Candy House composed by Humperdinck, she plays the protagonist Hansel during Taipei Symphony Orchestra and Concert Season. In the opera, Kamen, she plays the female protagonist during Romania SIPI Music Festival. In the operetta, Bat, she plays Prince Orlov during Weimar Operetta House Chinese Tour.

In the concert planning and opera directing area, she has planned and arranged Gulangyu International Piano Festival and German Music Week for several times since 2007. In 2008, the operetta version of the opera Bat directed by her in Hanover Germany was a great success and on its tour around nine cities in China in 2009. In 2012, as the art director, she helped the Confucius Institute in Erfurt Germany to plan and arrange the New Year Concert. In 2004, she helped to direct the Central Conservatory of Music Version of Verdi’s opera Aida and won the outstanding performance award during the 2nd Chinese Opera Festival organized by the Cultural Department.

In teaching area, the students of Prof. BI Baoyi has achieved outstanding results at home and abroad: Qiu Zhaoyuan won the first prize in the HBTV original music competition; Pan Zhouni won the third prize in Teresa Berlloc; the Gold Award in the 9th for Hongkong International Youth Arts Festival; Si Cen won the silver award in Vocal Asia Festival.

In 2008, Sino German Association, the Jena Government in Germany and Yale University established Bi Bao Yi Vocal Master Class in Jena Turning State Germany. In 2013, a new master class is successfully established at University Malaysia Sabah. In 2014, another master class is established at Michigan State University. At home, Prof. Bi has taught in Central Conservatory of Music, China Conservatory of Music, Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Shenyang Conservatory of Music, Nanjing Conservatory of Music, Xiamen Conservatory Music, Central China Normal University and NENU Conservatory of Music.
