Self-introduction
Dr. Meizhen Zheng received her B.Sc. degree from Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2001, and her M.Sc. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Jinan University in 2004. She earned her Ph.D. in Oncology from Sun Yat-Sen University Cancer Center in 2007. After graduation, Dr. Zheng conducted postdoctoral and associate research work at the Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS) and The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine (JGM) in the United States, where she participated in major international projects such as ENCODE and the 4D Nucleome. At the end of 2019, Dr. Zheng joined the School of Life Sciences at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), where she established the 3D Genomics Laboratory. She is a recipient of the National-Level Leading Talent Award in Shenzhen. Dr. Zheng has published multiple research articles as first or corresponding author in internationally renowned journals including Nature, Science Advances, The EMBO Journal, and Briefings in Bioinformatics. She has presided over several research projects funded by national, provincial, and municipal agencies, and holds four approved patents. Dr. Zheng serves as a reviewer for journals such as Genome Biology, Nucleic Acids Research, Journal of Genetics and Genomics, and Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics. She is a member of the first committee of the Single Cell Technology Branch of the Guangdong Precision Medicine Application Association, a committee member of the 3D Genomics Branch of the Chinese Genetics Society, and an academic committee member of the International 3D Genomics Symposium.
Research Interests
Dr. Zheng’s laboratory focuses on the development and application of cutting-edge 3D genomics technologies at the single-cell and single-molecule levels, aiming to unravel the spatial and dynamic relationships between higher-order chromatin structure and gene transcriptional regulation.
◆Development and application of high-resolution 3D genomics technologies (such as RDD, Science Advances 2024; ChIA-Drop, Nature 2019).
◆ Development and application of single-cell multi-omics technologies (such as scAIR, Science Advances 2024).
◆ Construction of intelligent data analysis and visualization platforms (such as ScSmOP, MCIBox, BIB 2022,2023).
