Brief Introduction

Ying Zhu is an Assistant Professor (Associate Research Fellow) in the Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), with a joint appointment at the Center for Complex Flows and Soft Matter Research. Dr. Zhu received both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Beihang University and a PhD from École Centrale de Lyon, France, where the doctoral research focused on the theory of anisotropic turbulence at the Laboratoire de Mécanique des Fluides et d’Acoustique (LMFA). From 2020 to 2025, Dr. Zhu conducted postdoctoral research at the Institut de Physique de Nice (INPHYNI), affiliated with the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), studying wave turbulence and vortex turbulence in quantum fluids as part of the major international research initiative Simons Collaboration on Wave Turbulence. Dr. Zhu has published more than ten papers in journals including Reports on Progress in Physics, Physical Review Letters, Communications Physics, Journal of Fluid Mechanics, and Physical Review E. Dr. Zhu’s first-author papers have been featured on the cover of Physical Review Letters and selected as an Editors’ Suggestion in Physical Review E. This research has also been featured on the CNRS website and in Physics World.
